JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing

About Us

JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing was founded in 2011, but our roots in the plumbing trade run much deeper. Owner Jason Pollock brings more than 20 years of hands-on experience to the business, learning the craft through years of working alongside friends in the plumbing industry after relocating to Grinnell, Iowa. What began as a passion for honest, skilled work quickly grew into a trusted local company built on integrity and results.

Today, JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing is proudly a family-run, father-and-son business, with John (dad) and Todd (son) working together to serve the community. With over 40 years of combined experience, our team believes in doing the work that truly needs to be done—no shortcuts, no pressure, and no unnecessary services.

We specialize in drain cleaning, sewer line inspection and repair, pipe patching, hydro jetting, sewer replacement, and water systems, but what truly sets us apart is how we work. We take the time to explain the problem, identify the cause, provide clear options, and allow our customers to choose what works best for their home and budget. Just as importantly, we help homeowners understand how to prevent future issues whenever possible.

As a locally owned and operated business, we’re proud to serve Grinnell and surrounding communities with fast, reliable plumbing solutions delivered by people who care. At JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing, we treat every home like it’s our own—and every customer like family.

I would recommend JP plumbing to anyone. Jason is the most honest person you will meet and will be straightforward with you. I was having issues and even though he was super short staffed for the week and that he might not get the job done but would try. He kept at it til it was. He will definitely make sure you are taken care of.

I reached out to JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing regarding a clogged drain. Jason & Todd arrived early the next morning and quickly assessed what needed to be done. They unclogged the drain and gave my wife and I some tips on what to avoid to prevent issues in the future. They also resolved a water heater vent pipe issue created by a roofing contractor. They were extremely helpful and professional and I would highly recommend them

FAQ

What plumbing services does JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing offer in Grinnell, IA?
JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing offers a full range of residential plumbing services including drain cleaning, sewer line repair, camera inspections, clog removal, and emergency plumbing services. Whether you’re dealing with a backed-up drain line, slow drains, or pipe issues, professional service ensures fast and reliable solutions tailored to your home.
What plumbing services do you offer?
JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing provides comprehensive plumbing services in Grinnell, IA, including drain cleaning, clearing backed-up drain lines (even during laundry use), sewer line diagnostics and repair, camera inspections, clog removal, and emergency plumbing services to keep your system running efficiently.
Do you handle sewer line issues?
Yes, JP Drain Cleaning & Plumbing handles a wide range of sewer line issues in Grinnell, IA, including slow drains, foul odors, and backups throughout the home. Using advanced tools like sewer camera inspections, we can accurately locate problems such as buildup, root intrusion, or pipe damage and provide effective solutions like drain cleaning, repair, or replacement.
Why is my drain line backing up when I run the laundry? Or my toilet backing up?
If your drain line backs up during laundry, it’s often a sign of a clog or restriction in your main sewer line. Large amounts of water from your washing machine can overwhelm partially blocked pipes, causing water to back up into drains or floor drains. Common causes include lint buildup, grease, debris, or tree root intrusion. Professional drain cleaning can restore proper flow and prevent further damage.
How do I know if I need professional drain cleaning in Grinnell, IA?
Signs you need drain cleaning services include slow drains, frequent clogs, foul odors, or backups in multiple fixtures. These symptoms often indicate a deeper blockage in your plumbing system that requires professional attention. Ignoring them can lead to more serious issues like sewer line backups.
What is a plumbing camera inspection and when is it needed?
A camera inspection uses a waterproof camera inserted into your pipes to identify blockages, cracks, or tree root intrusion without digging. This service is ideal when you’re experiencing recurring clogs, backups, or unexplained plumbing issues. It allows plumbers to pinpoint the exact problem and recommend the most effective solution.
Can a camera inspection help prevent future plumbing problems?
Yes, drain and sewer camera inspections help detect hidden issues early, such as buildup, pipe damage, or root intrusion. By identifying problems before they worsen, homeowners can avoid costly repairs and emergency plumbing situations.
What causes recurring drain clogs in my home?
Recurring clogs are often caused by grease buildup, soap residue, hair, food particles, or debris accumulating in your pipes over time. In some cases, deeper issues like tree roots or damaged sewer lines may be to blame. A professional inspection and cleaning ensures the root cause is fully addressed—not just temporarily fixed.
Is professional drain cleaning better than store-bought drain cleaners?
Yes, professional drain cleaning services are much safer and more effective than chemical drain cleaners. Store-bought chemicals can damage pipes and only provide a temporary fix, while professional methods like snaking or hydro jetting fully remove blockages and restore proper flow.
My toilet is backing up—can you help?
Yes—if your toilet is backing up, it’s often a sign of a deeper clog in your drain line or sewer line rather than just the toilet itself. Our team in Grinnell, IA can quickly diagnose the issue, clear the blockage with professional drain cleaning, and use camera inspections if needed to identify the root cause and prevent future backups.
